Cost comes up on nearly every consultation call, and it should. This is a real investment of money, time and courage, and I would rather talk about it plainly than let it sit quietly in the corner of the conversation. So here is what psilocybin therapy costs in Colorado right now, what we charge at Numia, and why.
The short version
A private protocol at Numia is $3,800. That includes every session and the medicine: two preparation sessions, a journey day of six to eight hours with your therapist present the entire time, two integration sessions, and the monthly integration circles you are welcome in for as long as you like. The Couples Protocol is $6,000 per couple. Our Group Retreat begins at $4,000 per person with lodging, gourmet meals and every session included. Travel to Denver is the one cost that stays with you. Everything is billed before your journey, so there is nothing to pay on the day itself. You can see all of it laid out on our pricing page.
Across Colorado, a complete protocol at a licensed healing center generally costs somewhere between $3,000 and $3,800 in the Denver area, and anywhere from $1,000 to $4,500 when you include smaller centers and sliding-scale programs around the state. Group sessions cost less, retreats with lodging cost more, and insurance does not cover any of it. We sit at the top of the Denver range, and I want to explain why, because the number on its own tells you very little.
Where the money goes
It surprises people to learn that the medicine is a small part of the cost. Psilocybin itself is inexpensive. What you are paying for is the container we build around it, and most of that container is time with a person.
Over my years as a therapist I have come to deeply respect the fifty-minute hour. It is meaningful work, and for many people it is exactly what they need. What I noticed, slowly, was that some people had been in that hour for years and had reached a place talk alone could not take them. Psilocybin therapy reaches those deeper layers, and it does so in a very different shape: instead of fifty minutes a week, it is 12 to 14 hours with the same licensed therapist over a few weeks, most of it in one long day.
At Numia the person holding those hours is a clinical facilitator therapist, a licensed therapist who also holds Colorado’s facilitator license. That is the most expensive kind of time there is, and I believe it is the right kind. The same person meets you in preparation, sits with you through the journey, and meets you again in integration, so nothing you bring has to be explained twice.
The rest of the cost is the things you would hope are there and never have to think about: a licensed healing center in the heart of Denver that feels like a calm, beautiful home, medicine grown by a licensed Colorado cultivator and tested by a licensed lab, support staff on site the whole day, the screening we do before you pay anything, and the records, reporting and licensing the state requires of us. Those are the costs a licensed center carries that an unlicensed guide does not, and they are also what you are buying.
Why some programs cost less
When you compare prices, compare hours first. A lower price in Colorado usually means a shorter program: one preparation session where we hold two, a single 50-minute integration session, sometimes a lower dose and a shorter day. That is a fair thing to offer and a fair thing to price lower. It is simply a different service, and you deserve to know the difference before you choose.
Colorado’s rules protect you here more than most people realize. Before any paid service, a facilitator must tell you every fee and how payment works. Before your journey, you sign a written cost disclosure that itemizes preparation, the session, the medicine and integration, along with any rescheduling or cancellation fees and the refund policy. A first integration session can never carry a separate fee, and the medicine cannot be sold to you as a separate purchase. If a center will not put its full price in writing, or asks for cash for the medicine on the day, ask why. The state’s facilitator rules are public, and we link them from our page on how we keep every session safe.
Insurance, HSAs and paying over time
Health insurance does not cover psilocybin therapy in Colorado, and Numia does not bill insurance. Every client pays directly. Health savings accounts usually cannot be used either, because federal tax rules exclude substances that remain illegal under federal law, and psilocybin still is. Please check with your plan administrator before counting on one.
Some centers advertise payment plans. We handle them case by case. If cost is what stands between you and this work, say so on the consultation call. That call is free, it is unhurried, and the question of money is a completely normal thing to bring to it.
What I tell people who ask whether it is worth it
I am careful with promises, because this is medicine, and medicine deserves honesty. Psilocybin is not a magic pill. You will not do one journey and become a different person. What I have watched, across more than 200 legal psilocybin sessions in our home in Denver, is that the protocol can open a different direction, and that the work of integration afterward is where that direction takes root. That is what the price holds: the preparation before, the long day itself, and the weeks after, with the same person walking alongside you the whole way.
If you would like to talk through cost, timing, or whether this path fits your life right now, we would love to meet you in a free consultation. Whenever you are ready.
Warmly,
Carolina
