What Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy Looks Like at Numia
Our founder, Carolina Correa, spent years as a therapist before opening Numia, and she still speaks about traditional therapy with deep respect. It is powerful, meaningful, and has helped so many people. Over time, though, she noticed that for some people talk therapy alone did not always reach the deeper layers of their emotional world, the places that live in the body and are hard to access with words alone. Psilocybin-assisted therapy is how we gently invite people into those places, with a licensed therapist walking alongside them the whole way.

How the protocol works
- A free consultation. A 15-minute conversation with someone from our team. We learn what is bringing you here, answer your first questions, and help you sense whether this path fits. There is no obligation to continue.
- A fit call with your therapist. We match you with a therapist based on your goals, your history, and how you like to work. This complimentary call is where the two of you decide together whether it feels right.
- Two one-hour preparation sessions. The first is by video about two weeks before your journey; the second is in person at our space the day before. You build trust, set intentions, and learn exactly what to expect. How we prepare together.
- Journey day. Five to eight hours in a private room that feels like a calm, beautiful home. The psilocybin comes from a licensed Colorado cultivator, the dose is decided with you during preparation, and your therapist stays in the room with you from beginning to end.
- Two one-hour integration sessions. The first is usually the day after your journey; the second about two weeks later. This is where the real work happens: making sense of what came up and carrying it into your relationships, your work, and your days.

How to Choose a Psilocybin Therapy Provider in Denver

Legal and Safe: What Colorado Requires
Colorado voters passed Proposition 122 in November 2022, creating the Natural Medicine Health Act. Under the law, adults 21 and older may receive psilocybin services from a state-licensed facilitator at a licensed healing center. The first healing center licenses were issued in 2025, and Numia was the second to open in Denver. Facilitators are licensed by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies; healing centers, cultivators, and testing labs are licensed by the Department of Revenue’s Natural Medicine Division. Psilocybin remains a Schedule I substance under federal law, and these services have not been evaluated or approved by the FDA. Safety begins long before journey day. We ask about your medical history, your mental health history, and your current medications, and we look carefully at anything that could make psilocybin a poor fit, including a personal or family history of psychosis or bipolar disorder and certain medications that interact with psilocybin. Some medications can be paused safely with your prescriber; others mean we will gently suggest a different path. Clients come to us from across Colorado and from out of state. Preparation and integration sessions can happen by video, so your time in Denver can be as short as two or three days. Is psilocybin therapy legal in Denver?
Yes, within Colorado’s regulated program. Adults 21 and older may receive psilocybin services from a state-licensed facilitator at a licensed healing center such as Numia. Buying, selling, or using psilocybin outside that program is still illegal, and psilocybin remains a Schedule I substance under federal law.
What is the difference between a licensed healing center and a therapist who offers psilocybin therapy?
In Colorado, only a licensed healing center may hold and administer psilocybin. Some therapists and facilitators partner with a center and bring their clients there for the journey day. At Numia, the licensed center and the therapists are one team, so the person who prepares you, sits with you on journey day, and integrates with you afterward is the same person, in the same space.
Who is a good fit, and who is not?
People come to us carrying many things: anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, a life transition, or a long sense of being stuck. A good fit is someone who is curious, willing to prepare, and ready to do the integration work afterward. We screen carefully, and a personal or family history of psychosis or bipolar disorder, certain medications, and some medical conditions mean psilocybin is not a safe path. The free consultation is where we begin to explore this together, honestly and without pressure.
How long does the whole protocol take?
From your first preparation session to your last integration session is usually about a month, and we schedule everything around your life. The journey day itself lasts five to eight hours. Before that, the consultation and fit call can happen within a week or two of reaching out, depending on your therapist’s availability.
What does psilocybin therapy cost in Denver?
At Numia, a private protocol is $3,800, a couples protocol is $6,000 per couple, and group retreats begin at $4,000 per person with lodging and meals included. Every price covers the medicine and all preparation and integration sessions, with nothing to pay on journey day. Insurance does not currently cover psilocybin therapy in Colorado. Do you work with people from outside Colorado?
