Why a Group, and Why a Home
Most people come to Numia for private sessions, and for many that is exactly right. Some people, though, are carrying something that a circle can hold better than a room for two: burnout that has become normal, a loss or a season of change, a numbness that is hard to name, or simply the sense that they have been doing life alone for a long time. Sitting with a few others who are asking similar questions changes what is possible, before the medicine and long after it.
That is why our group format is a retreat rather than a session. You stay together in a private home in the foothills, prepare together, journey together, and integrate together on the land. The group is never a crowd: six to eight people, chosen with care, held by licensed therapists from the first conversation to the closing circle.
A group is not the right container for everyone. If your history is complex or you would rather do this work privately, private sessions are the better fit, and we will say so on the call.

Clinical Facilitator Therapists, From the First Session to the Last
Every group at Numia is guided by licensed therapists, and our model is Colorado’s clinical facilitator license (NMCF), the tier the state reserves for clinicians licensed to diagnose and treat. On a retreat you will meet more than one of them, because the state requires at least one facilitator for every four participants, and because holding a group well takes more than one pair of hands.

How a group retreat unfolds
- A 15-minute fit call. A relaxed conversation about what is drawing you here and whether a group is the right container for you. Nothing to decide on the call.
- Private screening and preparation. Your health history and medications are reviewed individually by our clinical team, and you have a preparation session before you arrive, as Colorado’s rules require. How we prepare together.
- Arrival and grounding. You settle into the home and the land, share a first dinner, and set intentions as a group.
- Journey day at the house. The journey itself happens at the house, together as a group, with gourmet meals included. Each person has their own space and their own dose, and licensed therapists are present from the first moment to the last. Sessions usually run five to eight hours.
- Integration on the land. A morning circle, time outdoors, the sauna and cold plunge, and a shared dinner. On the two-journey retreat, a full day like this sits between the journeys, so the second can build on the first.
- Carrying it home. A closing circle, practical tools for the weeks ahead, and a group integration session about two weeks after you return.

Both paths are guided by the same licensed therapists at the same licensed center. The difference is the container. Here is how they compare, so you can choose with clear eyes.

How a Group Stays Safe
A group journey asks more of the people holding it, not less. These are the questions we would ask any provider offering group psilocybin sessions in Colorado, and how we answer them ourselves.
- Is every person screened individually?Colorado requires a safety screening for each participant. Ask whether a clinician reviews your history and medications, or whether the group is admitted as a block.At Numia: every participant completes a private screening, reviewed individually by our clinical team, before a spot is confirmed.
- How many guides are in the room?State rules allow no more than four participants per facilitator in a group session. Ask for the number, and ask whether the guides are licensed therapists.At Numia: a group of eight has at least two licensed therapists present, start to finish, and usually more.
- Where does the journey happen, and who licenses it?Psilocybin may only be administered by a licensed healing center, at its own premises or at a temporary premises the state has approved. What Colorado’s Rules Say About Groups
Under the Natural Medicine Health Act, adults 21 and older may receive psilocybin services from a state-licensed facilitator at a licensed healing center. The rules in 4 CCR 755-1 address group sessions directly. Rule 6.17(G) allows group administration sessions, requires each participant to consent to the group individually, and caps the group at four participants per facilitator. Rule 6.16 requires a safety screening and at least one preparation session conducted individually with each participant. Rule 6.19 allows group integration sessions when each person has agreed to them. Rule 6.18 has kept group sessions inside licensed healing centers; a 2026 law, HB26-1325, now lets a licensed center hold sessions at an approved temporary premises, and the Natural Medicine Division is finalizing the rules that implement it, with a final hearing on November 4, 2026. That is what allows our retreats to hold the journeys at the house.
Where a group fits: for someone with a straightforward history who wants the company of others on the way in and the way out. Where private sessions fit: for someone carrying trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, or a complicated medical picture, and for anyone who wants what surfaces to be worked with as therapy afterward. Yes, within the state’s regulated program. Colorado’s rules specifically allow group administration sessions at a licensed healing center, with each participant consenting individually and no more than four participants per facilitator.
